Hello there! I am Zabih ur Rehman Bilal, a Canadian from Ottawa. I was recently employed with Ericsson as a software developer. I've been developing software, websites, and automation for myself and my clients for two years. I have expertise programming in a variety of languages, including object-oriented C, C, C++, Java, Python, and Ruby. However, working with Python for test automation is a part of some of my favourite projects.

I am graduating with my computer science degree from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, in the fall. Additionally, I have 2.5 years of co-op experience from Trend Micro and Ericsson.

Responsible for architectural work for the Hardware Integration team - reorganized all the code for one of the major repositories, along with modularizing pre-existing code and scripts with OOP principles incorporated
Documented all the structural changes were made using a UML diagram representation, along with adding all the required information on wiki
Involved in Automated and Manual Integration testing for newly developed features on latest 5G Radio Dots and Indoor Radio Units
Responsible for creating product development loops for two of the main projects my team worked on
Responsible for running component integration and system integration regressions tests, creation of Jira tickets for failures and fixing the problem by tracking down the issues in the code on the earlier stages of the project, for feature development on newer iteration of 5G devices

Responsible for automating the process of enabling AWS WAF using serverless.yml code, when a user accesses an application, it was deployed on staging environment for testing and deployed final product on production environment using Jenkins Pipeline
Responsible for fixing Application Security on Cloud One Workload Security by diagnosing and re-configuring it with a tenant, so all the Instances on Cloud-One that were using it on AWS can connect to it when in use, it was deployed on staging environment for testing and deploy on production environment when fixed
Involved intensive research for performing actions on AWS to achieve automation, studying AWS and YAML documentation, testing automation on staging platform using Splunk and Jenkins Pipeline, extensive use of GitHub and deployment on production environment after intensive screening and testing

Personal Projects

NGS Report Generator

Developed an interactive C++ program that reads a file of Canada’s National Graduate Survey data and uses this data to generate five different types of reports
All the data read from the data file was stored in a vector of dynamically allocated Collection for object pointers
This program follows the best possible software engineering implementations and all the correct rules of object oriented programming like inheritance, polymorphism, abstraction, and encapsulation. Additionally, the program also uses STL, pointers, statically and dynamically allocated vectors of pointers and data fetching from file

Dragons Hollow

This C++ program simulates a confined area called Dragon’s Hollow, a gameboard surrounded by trees on three sides and a cave on the other where Heroes make their way from the left and right side, to rescue Emerald from the cave which is guarded by the Dragon and a bunch of dorcs, borcs, and porcs
Follows the correct software engineering principles by implementing inheritance, polymorphism, abstraction, and encapsulation. Additionally, the program uses a class template specialization of a 2D array of type double pointer, while making sure all memory is deallocated and no memory leaks are present

Restaurant Web Application

Developed a web application using HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and JSON data to allow users to place orders for various restaurants online
Utilized various forms of input e.g., drop down menus, interactive image links and buttons to optimize ordering experience

Electronic Store App

Developed an interactive electronic store simulator using Java and Java FX to allow the user to purchase various electronic items
Handled user inputs, dropdowns, buttons and kept a track of purchased items in the cart to enhance user experience

Minesweeper – Game

Developed an interactive minesweeper game in Python using nested lists and various recursive methods that generated random mines every time the program was executed
